Reclaiming Radiance: Aman’s Journey from Blankness to Brilliance with YourDOST. 

Our warrior hails from the historical land of Haryana that witnessed Mahabharata and many different battles. It holds a greater significance to the people of Haryana. Aman is a 21-year-old engineering student studying at Delhi Technological University. He finds himself grounded in his roots. He relishes himself by swimming as he navigates through life’s challenges. 

Aman radiated joy and mischief growing up. He enjoyed every bit of his childhood that he could cherish. Aman was the youngest, and his family was a source of pillar and strength.

Later in his formative years, Aman experienced unexpected hardships that left him feeling lost and disconnected. He felt a growing distance within his family in a world where socialising and understanding others are vital. This void weighed heavily on his mind and troubled him deeply. As he grew older, life presented unexpected challenges that shook the foundation of his world. 

In the delicate balance of family dynamics, Aman struggled to maintain peace and harmony. The once strong bond that held them together seemed to fray, leaving him disheartened. 

“I knew something was amiss. I just didn’t feel anything. All the thoughts were suppressed, just like the calmness before the storm.”

Aman describes moments of emptiness when his thoughts seemed to vanish. It left him in a state of confusion. It’s troublesome for a human to be blank and have no thoughts popping. It’s frustrating, and we can’t imagine being in that state. Alongside these emotional struggles, he battled with stress-related eating habits that seemed beyond his control. 

The family episode in Aman’s life was pulling him down. It left a big void in Aman’s life. He began to feel lost and needed some upliftment. The feelings and emotions were persistent, and they troubled him to the core. 

Aman was fortunate enough that his college partnered with YourDOST to help students who need someone to talk to. He decided to give it a shot, and he hit a home run and has never turned back since then. 

“I was not sure how this works, but surely I made the right call to go with YourDOST to seek therapy.” 

After some attempts and skimming through counselors, he connected with Ms Mamta Shekhar to become his guiding angel and bring him to light. He feels blessed to have decided to walk down this road. 

Ms Mamta Shekhar recommended some techniques to cope with his emotions better. She suggested reading some articles to understand his feelings well. She also asked him to socialise more and separate the groups he hung out with for more clarity. It helped in his quest for healing towards his betterment. 

“The best part I felt was, she never judged me or my problems. She had a special warmth, she would constantly ask how my day was and how am I doing. These small details make all the difference.” 

All the suggested methods helped in reducing his bad behaviours. Aman mentions how Mamta never came up with a solution to a problem but enlightened him to make way for himself in such a situation. 

“I’m thankful to Mamta and will be forever grateful. It was an incredible experience for me. It was a remarkable event in my life. It’s all for those sessions for who I am today. I can’t imagine where would I have ended up.”

Aman is off on a journey of his own with resilience and a heart full of hope. He is making progress and feels enlightened post-therapy. Things have become different now. He is more relaxed and with each passing day, he is closing the gap. 

Aman is modest in rating his progress at 2 out of 5 in terms of getting better. We are aware that the road to 5 is not tough and he will be there one day.

2.“You must sort yourself first before you step out to sort the world.”
