Vaishnavi’s Road to Self-Discovery and Healing with YourDOST.

Karnataka, a jewel of South India, is a land where history whispers from ancient ruins and modern cities buzz with innovation. It’s a realm where the lush Western Ghats give way to the serene beaches of the Arabian Sea.

The state boasts the architectural marvels of Hampi and Mysore, narrating tales of bygone empires. Home to the tech hub of Bangalore, Karnataka is a fusion of cutting-edge urbanity and timeless natural beauty.

Its rich cultural tapestry is woven with vibrant festivals like Dussehra, the classical strains of Carnatic music, and the tantalizing flavours of Udupi cuisine, making Karnataka a mosaic of diverse experiences.

Vaishnavi, a 19-year-old student from Karnataka, living in Jamnagar, Gujarat, is pursuing her 3rd semester in B.Tech Information Technology at Marwadi University. Her world is one of poems and sketching, creative outlets that offer her solace and expression.

Vaishnavi’s childhood, though filled with the comfort of small groups, was marred by bullying at school. Her peers’ taunts and mockery led her to internal conversations, seeking solace in her own company.

“The labels they put on me, mimicking me cruelly, hurt deeply and the pain of those memories is still fresh.”

As she progressed through her academic journey, Vaishnavi found herself grappling with severe loneliness and declining academic performance.

“I felt isolated, and misunderstood, and my grades were suffering. I wanted to change my school, but didn’t agree.”

It was during this challenging period that Vaishnavi learned about YourDOST, her college’s official partner for emotional wellness.

“I knew I needed to speak to someone, to sort out the turmoil within me.”

Ms. Daisy Jaganathan, Vaishnavi’s counselor at YourDOST, became a beacon of hope and understanding.

“From the moment I met Ms. Daisy, I felt a connection. It was like talking to a best friend.”

Ms. Daisy guided Vaishnavi through various self-reflection exercises, including writing down the pros and cons of staying or leaving her university. She encouraged Vaishnavi to document her thoughts and the events that triggered them, fostering a deeper understanding of her emotions and reactions.

Vaishnavi’s challenges were compounded by rumours spread by her classmates, attacking her character and further diminishing her self-esteem.

“Hearing those rumours about me was devastating. It pulled me down to my lowest.

In her struggle, Vaishnavi resorted to excessive eating and irregular sleep patterns.
“My coping mechanisms were unhealthy, but therapy helped me turn things around.”

Yoga and regular gym sessions became her new way of coping, bringing positive changes to both her physical and mental health.

Post-therapy, Vaishnavi experienced a significant transformation.

“I’ve learned to practice healthier habits, and my confidence is slowly rebuilding. I’m more aware of my strengths and how to work on my shortcomings.”

Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Vaishnavi thanks Ms. Daisy for her unwavering support.

“Having Ms. Daisy in my life has been a blessing. She listened, understood, and stood by me when I felt alone. Her guidance was invaluable in my journey of self-discovery.”

Vaishnavi’s story is a moving tale of overcoming adversity, rediscovering oneself, and the healing power of empathy and professional guidance. Her experience with YourDOST underscores the importance of emotional wellness support in navigating life’s challenges, especially during the formative years of college.

“Thanks to YourDOST and Ms. Daisy, I’ve embarked on a journey of self-improvement and emotional healing. I’m learning to love myself more each day and facing life with renewed vigour and hope.”

Her story serves as an inspiration to many young individuals facing similar struggles, highlighting the transformative impact of counseling and the importance of seeking help in times of need.

Vaishnavi’s Warrior Tips:
1.“Don’t hold on to people who don’t respect and deserve your love.”
2.“Let go of the past, those who did not support or love you do not have to be in your life anymore.”
3.”Learn to let go and move on even though it hurts.”
