Shreya’s Story of Growing Stronger Emotionally With The Help of Therapy.

Shreya is 22 years old, and pursuing her post graduation from Delhi Technological University. Engrossed in science left her weak in other philosophical aspects of life.

Our life is a journey and we meet people through this voyage. Some meet to stay forever and some just leave an impact on you. Life is like a train ride, with each stop representing a chapter in our story. Along the way, we encounter passengers who hop on and off, some staying for just a few stops, while others travel with us until our destination arrives.

She feels that she missed getting on board the Hogwarts Express from the 9 and three-quarters platform. She has a collection of Harry Potter goodies that her friends and relatives gifted on various occasions. She is also involved in arts and crafts and loves to flaunt her skills.

Growing up in a supportive family was an add-on for Shreya. She shares a special bond with her mother. She is the youngest among her sisters.

“Living in a fantasy world is a sweet escape from the harsh realities of the real world.  It’s like stepping into a new dimension where anything is possible. But, striking a balance between the two is crucial. It’s a delicate dance between the two, but it’s a dance worth learning.”

Shreya has excellent communication skills as a professional. She lacked emotional wealth. She was keen to understand and work towards her self-development. Friends were like passing clouds in her life. She had trouble making friends who she could trust. She missed the transparent friendship that one could ask for.

Living in the 21st century dealing with emotional difficulties is common. Our friendship and relationship dynamics have changed drastically. Adapting to change has become difficult, due to time constraints we have become more reserved physically and extravagant on socials.

Shreya was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to avail the facility provided by YourDOST, which partnered with her college to provide mental health support.

“I was a little sceptical about trying therapy, I booked the session and it was an altogether different experience. I had never imagined it would work this way.”

Shreya faced difficulty making decisions and needed someone to guide her through the decision-making process. Handling her emotions was difficult for her.

Shreya felt lonely which fed her mind into thinking that she was emotionally weak. She needed a magic wand to spell those magic words to get herself out of such situations.

Shreya tried her luck with therapy and found herself a torch bearer who could walk her out of the tunnel of darkness. She connected with Ms Diya Biswas to begin her sessions and discuss her emotional state.

“Happiness can be found even at the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn the light.” – Dumbledore

Diya was the perfect match for her. Her counselor’s words instantly eased her. Diya was patient with her understanding of her needs. She suggested effective techniques to solve her emotional troubles. She did not impose but helped her understand the benefits of trying these techniques in her day-to-day life.

Diya stood like a pillar of strength for her. She motivated her and pushed her to learn to drive her emotions. She suggested maintaining a journal to pen her emotions down and reflect upon them. She also asked her to meditate and try to channel her thoughts to have control over her emotions.

Diya also mentioned trying colouring books to cool down her emotions. She enjoyed carrying out the colouring task more considering her interest in arts and crafts. It was no longer a task assigned by a counselor but rather a hobby that she enjoyed doing.

“I was able to carry out the recommended tasks for a short duration of time but I regularly tried the art bit.”

Shreya believes the emotional support helped her inner self to learn new about herself. She has grown into a better decision-maker. She is more confident than ever before. She feels that it helped her develop her personality and has changed the way she perceives things.

Shreya felt much better post-therapy sessions. She embraced her emotional wealth. She has become brave enough to fight her battles. She is still on her path to becoming a better version of herself.

Shreya rates herself a solid 3 out of 5 in terms of getting better post-therapy. She feels there is still some time left to cast her spell to make everything better with her wand.

Shreya’s Warrior Tips:
1.“If you’re struggling with decision-making, take a deep breath and think it through. It would be difficult at first but it would be worth it.”
2.“There is a lot of darkness and negativity around the world but there is a ray of hope too that maintains the balance all around.”
