Mukul’s Cinematic Journey: From Darkness to Light Through Therapy.

Originally from Delhi, Mukul is a 21-year-old passionate and ambitious filmmaker. He pursued his Bachelor of Arts in Filmmaking from Whistling Woods and is currently working in the city of Mumbai.

He believes in the power of storytelling, and to him, filmmakers are nothing less than modern-day bards weaving stories with light and sound. Film has been a strong passion in his life for a long time, and now he continues to work on many projects.

Mukul’s own story took a dramatic turn that mirrors the very essence of filmmaking itself- a journey filled with twists, turns, and the unrelenting pursuit of a captivating narrative. This began when he left Delhi for college, setting in motion a chain of events that would reshape his life.

“When I was at home, I was the common connection between members of my family. After leaving Delhi, things started to become very difficult for them too, and that in turn, affected me.”

Having been a film lover, Mukul decided to take his passion and make it his career. This decision was not an easy one, but it was one which he was determined to see through.

“My family has always been my first priority. However, when I got to college, things became difficult for me to balance and I started feeling very overwhelmed.”

His grounding in psychology during his 11th and 12th-grade studies gave him insight into mental health’s importance. Little did he know that this knowledge would soon become vital in his own life.

As he grappled with emotional detachment, a cloud of indifference descended upon him. He struggled to perceive emotions and navigate through them.

“It felt like everything around me was dull, and I couldn’t make sense of many situations. This feeling started to take a toll on my personal and professional life.”

In the midst of this confusion, Mukul remembered that his college had a partnership with YourDOST. Knowing the benefits of counseling, he decided to dive into the world of psychology and booked his first session.

“My counselor Ms. Ananya has helped me tremendously. At a time when I felt like I was drowning, she helped me get back on my feet with her patience and empathy.”

Ms. Ananya helped him chart a course toward recovery by helping him identify the emotions he was struggling to connect with. Together, they unravelled the situations that triggered his emotional detachment, enabling him to navigate through his sources of stress. With his counselor’s guidance, Mukul discovered the power of objectivity, learning to view challenging situations from a more balanced perspective before reacting.

Meditation became another tool in Mukul’s journey. It allowed him to gather the scattered fragments of his life and thoughts, enabling him to prioritize what truly mattered.

As Mukul’s sessions drew to a close, he felt an immense weight lift from his shoulders. He expresses his gratitude to his counselor for helping him regain stability-

“I’m so thankful to Ms Ananya for everything. She’s helped me reach a place in my life where I have so much confidence and optimism about the future.”

In the depths of despair, Mukul mentions that he felt broken and devoid of self-confidence. Low self-esteem held him captive. But today, he stands tall, handling multiple film projects simultaneously.

“One of my biggest enemies was arrogance. Now, I feel a lot more grounded and ready to work on myself.”

Mukul’s journey from emotional detachment to self-awareness serves as a testament to the strength that resides within each of us. He rates himself a perfect 5 out of 5 in terms of feeling better and continues to work on always growing throughout his life.

His story is a beacon of inspiration, urging us all to embrace our own narratives with courage and determination, for we are the authors of our own stories and cinematic journeys.

Mukul’s Warrior Tips:
1.“Life is too short to not hold onto hope. Keep yourself around people who will uplift you, and encourage you to be better.”
2.“Take every challenge as a learning opportunity.”
