Meet Keerthana, a 21-year-old influencer marketer determined to impact the marketing world. Hailing from Calicut, Kerala, her job involves keeping current with the latest trends, identifying people to collaborate with, and running campaigns.
It is a job that can come with its own set of conditions, such as being on social media most of the day and interacting with multiple people, but Keerthana takes all of this in her stride.
She describes her job as an exciting one.
During her off days, she cooks, watches movies, curates Spotify playlists, and tends to her nine cats!
“I have always been surrounded by cats, right from my childhood. I believe in adopting and not shopping.”
Her family comprises her father, mother, and sister; she is still very close to them.
Keerthana recalls being timid from childhood. She mentioned that transitioning into her marketing role was challenging. Suddenly, she was interacting with more people than she had ever been.
The new job came with new responsibilities, which needed to be more familiar and uncertain. Keerthana mentioned feeling overwhelmed during the initial phase, which led her to explore the path towards therapy. Since many people in her current office were older than her, she believed speaking to a counsellor would lighten some of the load.
Her organisation, Entri, had a partnership with YourDOST. She booked a session with Ms Abhirami.
She remembers Ms Abhirami as a fantastic listener who listened to her carefully with no interruptions throughout the session. This was a very positive sign for Keerthana.
“This was my first therapy session ever, and I remember thinking no one in my life had listened to me that carefully ever.”
After listening to her, Ms Abhirami suggested a few exercises to Keerthana that would help her manage her stress and anxiety. She also gave her a thought journal, which Keerthana could use to write down and categorise her fears.
Another thing that Keerthana struggled with during that time was her sleep schedule. She mentions having little to no sleep most days, which used to affect her mood. Ms Abhirami also gave her a document about sleep hygiene, which helped her plan her sleep times better.
In addition, Ms Abhirami also suggested some ideas for balancing Keerthana’s work and personal lives. She asked Keerthana to do one thing daily, which made her happy.
“Since my job involves being on social media from 9-6, she suggested a tactic that involved no social media usage after work hours, which helped”
Since her initial sessions with Ms Abhirami, Keerthana has seen many positive changes in her life. She mentions feeling a lot more confident in her workplace, and she even signed up for driving lessons and plans to get her driver’s license soon.
She currently rates herself a 4 out of 5 in terms of feeling better. We at YourDOST are glad to have been a part of Keerthana’s journey and can’t wait to see what she does next!
